Teatro Grande

Fondazione del Teatro Grande di Brescia

The Teatro Grande in Brescia has its roots in the 17th-century institution, the Academy degli Erranti, which managed the city's theater from around 1640. Over time, it became the city's main theater and a recognized national monument.

In the 20th century, it gained increasing importance nationally and was eventually identified as one of Italy's traditional theaters in the 1970s, recognizing its cultural, social, and educational roles in music, programming, and lyrical symphonic production.

From the late 19th century to today, the Teatro Grande has staged the most significant Italian operas, featuring renowned Italian and international artists. Since 2010, it has been managed by the Fondazione del Teatro Grande di Brescia, aiming to preserve tradition while embracing contemporaneity, multidisciplinarity, and a focus on young talent. The goal is to create an open theater that serves as a cultural hub for the city and the region, accommodating various art forms and diverse audiences, fostering lively interaction and dialogue.
